Ketevan Hager: What ideology the fund work is based on?
Idea of sustainable development has not a long time history, but the necessity of its introduction acquires wider and wider scales. “Mankind can make its own development sustainable and provide satisfaction of requirements of modernity without deprivation of similar possibilities for the future generation” –in 1987, these words of the chairman of World Commission of the Environmental Protection of U.N.O. – G. Kh. Bruntland –made the basis for the idea of sustainable development. In 1992 there was created moral-political and legal act of the principles of peace, which at that time was signed by the world’s 179 countries. Then there was the carta of Olborg of 1994 – cities of Europe for sustainable development etc. Although the fact is that this idea of mankind rescue is in danger. The reason for this is that the system of adaptation of sustainable development with the reality is deficient, i.e. culture of sustainable development is not introduced even today. Compare with each other the development of cultural characteristics of separate states and military capasity – from one part, national characteristics in general economical development and from other part – geopolitical interests, and it will become clear that the idea of world’s rescue is in quick introduction of the culture of sustainable development and formation of new strategic vision. Ketevan Hager: This fund has been created in Georgia. Purposes are sufficiently global and wide-ranging. How should this small state make international society and separate individuals believe that responsibility of mankind for overcoming of the 21st century’s difficulties is introduction of new principles of sustainable development? Mariam Tsatsanashvili: The Fund will try to create the team of partners for the peaceful world by mobilization of local resources and international assistance; reputation of the Fund will be based on the whole transparency of all aspects of activity and ethical norms. We will be oriented on practical results of the projects, which with the global economical and ecological factors will assist to the reveal, preservation and development of uniqueness of ethno-cultures, languages and roles of small nations; this principle of balancing of social justice will be individual responsibility of the Fund for sustainable development. Ketevan Hager: In the purposes of Fund’s activity renewed power system is mentioned pointedly. What experience is in region from this point of view and concretely, in Georgia? Mariam Tsatsanashvili: There are very interesting scientific researches in Georgia about the questions of renewed power system. Institutes and experienced collectives are working on these questions. Practical realization of their researches unfortunately became the victims of “big policy”. We think that Georgia and Caucasus in whole is sufficiently interesting and appropriate region for aprobation and experiments of models of sustainable development. The founding conference of IRENA (The International Renewable Energy Agency), conducted in January 2009, is very impressive, which was signed by more than 140 states, the purpose of conference is creation of international agency which will assist the sustainable development of the world and renewable energy safety by supporting of quick development and introduction of renewed power system in the world. |
