About the new initiative talks the ex-president of Georgia Edward Shevardnadze Print E-mail

Ketevan Hager:

Mister Edward, you are considered to be one of the firm and experienced politician of our period. You had to often leave political arena and then to return to it. In your opinion, how necessary and important is the existence of such fund in Georgia in the conditions of globalization?

Edward Shevardnadze:

Edward ShevardnadzeNowadays world is in the process of searching and introduction of new valuables. Termin “globalization” expresses constellation of these new principles and requests response from the mankind  on these challenges by conscience of the corresponding type. What response will we have on these requirements, such place we will have in development and formation of the future world. Any trial to avoid the principles of globalization with the reason of contradiction to this idea according to the protest or any other such sign (for example according to the national sign) is  doomed to failure.  Globalization is of choiceless character. It does not put questions. Globalization enters the life of each man, existence of every nation and leaves us the only one way for expression of own existence and personality – to suit to this universal principle if we want to survive.

Director of the fund Mariam Tsatsanashvili talks about the importance of sustainable development fund Print E-mail

Ketevan Hager:

What ideology the fund work is based on?

Mariam TsatsanashviliMariam Tsatsanashvili:

Idea of sustainable development has not a long time history, but the necessity of its introduction acquires wider and wider scales.

Mankind can make its own development sustainable and provide satisfaction of requirements of modernity without deprivation of similar possibilities for the future generation” –in 1987, these words of the chairman of World Commission of the Environmental Protection of U.N.O. – G. Kh. Bruntland –made the basis for the idea of sustainable development. In 1992 there was created moral-political and legal act of the principles of peace, which at that time was signed by the world’s 179 countries. Then there was the carta of Olborg of 1994 – cities of Europe for sustainable development etc. Although the fact is that this idea of mankind rescue is in danger. The reason for this is that the system of adaptation of sustainable development with the reality is deficient, i.e. culture of sustainable development is not introduced even today. Compare with each other the development of cultural characteristics of separate states and military capasity – from one part, national characteristics in general economical development and from other part – geopolitical interests, and it will become clear that the idea of world’s rescue is in quick introduction of the culture of sustainable development and formation of new strategic vision.
